Kudan signs agreement with BIMEXPERTS to provide Kudan’s 3D-Lidar SLAM for commercial construction and facilities management solutions

Kudan Inc. (headquarters in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO Daiu Ko, hereafter “Kudan”) is pleased to announce that Kudan has entered into a Developing License General Agreement with BIMEXPERTS GmbH (headquarters in Vienna, Austria; CEO Michael Resch, hereafter “BIMEXPERTS”), construction engineering, and technical building planning company working with customers in Germany, Austria, Serbia, and internationally.
BIMEXPERTS will leverage Kudan’s 3D-Lidar SLAM (KdLidar) ※1 along with their expertise in Building Information Modeling (hereinafter referred to as the “BIM”) methodology to improve the efficiency in building management and inspection.

Their solutions enable building management operators to efficiently conduct inspections and perform asset management of industrial and commercial facilities by combining computer vision and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The solutions will utilize robots and drones for monitoring building interiors and collect point cloud data using the mounted 3D-Lidar. KdLidar will provide accurate positioning of the robots and drones within the building to reconstruct the 3D-Lidar point cloud and create an accurate digital representation of assets. In addition, they will combine BIM data and the 3D point cloud data for multiple purposes, such as identifying changes and deviations from the CAD design.

Managing the assets in buildings and conducting inspections have been one of the largest pain points for those managing commercial and industrial facilities. Many players know that constructing accurate 3D representations of buildings speed up this process. However, there have been very few viable solutions to efficiently accomplish this due to the lack of accurate indoor positioning systems that don’t rely on an additional positioning infrastructure. I believe Kudan’s Lidar SLAM is going to help break through this technical challenge and contribute to our solution. I’m looking forward to collaborating further with Kudan.

BIMEXPERTS plans to launch this solution within a few years and initially targets the Austrian and German markets. Kudan and BIMEXPERTS are working through the details of our commercial agreement in parallel while collaborating on the solution development.
