Kudan Lidar SLAM is now available to be used on the NVIDIA Isaac platform
09.17.2021
Kudan Inc. (headquarters in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO Daiu Ko, hereafter “Kudan”), a leading provider of simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) solutions across multiple industries and applications, has announced that Kudan Lidar SLAM (KdLidar) is now available to be used on the NVIDIA Isaac platform.
As an NVIDIA Partner Network member, Kudan has been working together to help the joint customers create products that meet their requirements, often within challenging environments, and at the same time reduce the development cycles for faster time-to-market. There has been an increasing demand for Jetson products for robotics applications, especially in autonomous mobile robots. Localization is a critical element to give their products an edge in the market.
As a complement to the Jetson computing platform, NVIDIA’s Isaac SDK offers a wide range of functions and modules such as object recognition and motion planning for robotics applications. However, there isn’t a robust commercial solution to support localization capabilities that fully utilize the power of 3D Lidar sensors. Kudan has created commercial-grade native KdLidar modules for localization and relocalization for navigation that seamlessly plug into the Isaac framework. Combined with the available dedicated technical support and ongoing maintenance, which is not available for open-source, NVIDIA users can look to benefit from KdLidar’s performance and ease of integration into their Issac environment.

KdLidar currently uses only CPU processors, not GPU processors, but we are planning to develop an updated version with NVIDIA GPU acceleration. In addition, Kudan is continuing to invest in solutions for the NVIDIA Jetson and Isaac platforms and looking forward to expanding its customer reach with further joint business and marketing collaborations with NVIDIA.
