Kudan Inc. (hereinafter “Kudan”), together with its partner XGRIDS, is pleased to announce its contribution to Asahi Broadcasting Group’s special exhibition on the theme of disaster prevention at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. Together, the two companies contributed to delivering a cutting-edge, photo-realistic 3D visual experience that brings disaster learning to life.

At the centrepiece of the exhibition, the VR Dome Theater Disaster Experience allows visitors to immerse themselves in a vivid recreation of a disaster site. Kudan and XGRIDS played a key role in producing this experience by employing Lixel CyberColor (hereinafter “LCC”), an advanced 3D reconstruction technology. Using this, the companies helped to faithfully reproduce the destruction and subsequent recovery of JR Kobe Line’s Rokkomichi Station during the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake with striking photo-realism.

Built on 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), LCC delivers a level of realism and immersion far beyond conventional 3D imaging. It also enables free-viewpoint interaction, offering a groundbreaking level of realism in video production and user experience.

Kudan strongly supports the mission of this exhibition: “Deepening learning on disaster prevention and mitigation to design a safer future.” Looking ahead, Kudan will continue to leverage Lixel CyberColor (LCC) powered by 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), alongside its Kudan PRISM digital twin platform to deliver value and contribute to society across the following areas:

  • Disaster Simulation and Evacuation Planning
By simulating floods, earthquakes, and other large-scale disasters within a digital twin, Kudan enables predictive damage assessment, 3D verification of evacuation routes, and prioritization of emergency recovery actions.
  • Decision-Making Support in the Field
AI-powered analyses of potential hazards and damage estimates can be overlaid on photo-realistic 3D environments. This allows governments, operators, and residents to share a unified perspective, accelerating decision-making and reducing delays in planning and response.
  • Education and Public Awareness Programs
In collaboration with schools, municipalities, and broadcasters, Kudan will provide interactive VR screenings and large-scale immersive curricula. Through photo-realistic disaster experiences, the company aims to pass on disaster-prevention awareness to the next generation.
